This seems as good a place as any. Therefore, I would be interested in hearing your opinion about the media’s treatment of Cleveland’s “suspected serial killer” Anthony Sowell. The death toll recently rose to 11, and I haven’t seen the case making big headlines in the national media. Am I wrong? Your thoughts?

This person seems to suffer the same delusion as many in our country, that all issues start with choice. It’s the idea of the “self-made” individual, that is central to our national identity, but that is now subverted. Health becomes another self-inflicted condition. It cannot be that you were born with a inherited genetic illness, and somehow cannot obtain expensive insurance. Such things don’t exist. Some may have lost the ability to admit there are things outside of our control, or they may have lost the ability to inflict themselves with sense.
